osiB, the first quest (the one where you find the 3 monuments) gives you the cesta, it isn't listed as -50 in the rewards window as that does not show all the mods of the items you will receive.
|
That's odd, the first quest I got was "Counting of the Fallens" and not the one where I find 3 monuments. He doesn't offer me the quest where I have to find the 3 monuments.

I never posted it for pride, I posted it because it's an easy build, an easy run, and could profit people perhaps.
In any case, if I look past the somewhat offending tone of your post..

I'm sorry that it came off as offensive, it wasn't meant to be. I know how you and you SMS buddies have come up with tons of builds for farming, and would like to see a long lasting one made w/o the 55 hp setup for a mesmer. Once again, sorry if I came off as offensive, I meant it as a challenge to create a build that would be away from the normal (55) and still work very efficiently.

Not to say I won't put thought into it, however.

That is all very viable information in creating the build, and I would like to chat with you about what it would take to pull it off. My friend and I took a Me/W and his N/Mo (to make things quicker and more efficient) and got through to the smites, where stupid mistakes were our problem. Contact me ingame if you want to discuss a build or formulation thereof that can do this. Once again (third time?) I'm sorry if I offended you, it did not mean to be that way.

You don't need points in Smiting for Balthazar's Spirit to work, as you still gain 1 energy per hit, no matter how many points you put into Smiting.
Great thread by the way .

Out of point, but I cleared the first aatxes using a Me/W riposte-stance build. Aparrently there were allegations that Racthoh's build was 'hard' and I couldn't do it. Try it with 60 armor, warriorfreaks
Ok so I was bored. If I ever kill smites (not even physically possible with 60AL and zealots fire imo) I'll put up some more info..

Ammm and i really like the music in video. What band is it?

Well if you checked the big post at the start, you'd notice I use SV and the reason the vid has resolve is I was still testing stuff at that time. The actual skill list I put up has SV *bish*

Really informative thread Avarre, thanks. That aside I have a question. I've been working on my own 55 mesmer, (which is hard because I can't play much ), But I've heard that there was a supposed UW nerf is this true?

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but here's an easy IW build for Elemental Titans:
Illusionary Weaponry
Protective Spirit
Healing Breeze
Vigorous Spirit
Mantra of Resolve
Essence Bond
Balthazar's Spirit
Mending
You can tank just about any number of Titans and Maelstroms with Vigorous Spirit/Healing Breeze. No secret really, just maintain PS, HB and VS and slash away.
Wild Growths aren't too bad, just make sure you don't take them on alone as they don't hit often enough to maintain a constant HB (which you need to counter poison). And though it's possible to kill Rotting Titans, it's best to avoid them with this build...unless you're up for a real challenge.

I haven't noticed anything, but then again the last time I went into UW I was trying to afk and kill at the same time. So I didn't exactly get as far as normal
Thanks for the information LuxA, I think some ideas for the build have been posted but yours seems more solid. Only concern I have is the massive energy loss from resolve after the update, although if you're taking multiple titans and killing waterborn first it might not be crippling..

Thanks. I wanted to know if I had wasted my time making this.
But I guess not. Excellent, money for the win!

Just tried this out on Hydras, and once you get the hang of using the numerical keys (I'm a point'n'click kinda guy) it's real fun I'm only at 185 points and it's well doable.
The only problem I've come across is that last annoying Hydra in a group that doesn't return enough energy to allow the immediate recasting of HB and PS - result = death , but I'm sure that's just a timing thing on my part.
Thx again for the fun build. Btw, has the 15% DP on a 55hp build always resulted in the life bar being reduced to 1 on revival at a shrine??

Yes, it has. DP reduces base (480) life, so your runes send you to -17 life (and removing your focus returns you to 33).
You don't need HB versus a solo hydra, so just cast PS. If needed, switch to a staff, cast, switch back and kill it quickly.

I use something close to this build for hydras as well.
Mouse - since Illusion is so high, you can replace SV with Conjure Phantasm instead (hydras aren't using adrenaline based skills anyways). Conjure + IW usually wipes out hydras fairly quickly. Also, putting more points into protection instead of healing will keep protective spirit going longer, giving you more time (and thus more energy) to spam healing breeze. You'll still have enough pips in breeze+mending to stay alive just fine. You should be able to take on 6+ hydras at once as long as you pay attention to who casts meteor first and last...

Thx for the advice all. That was my first attempt at this build and so I am sure the occasional death was just the result of a) not paying attention whilst being amazed at the inneffectual attempts of 6 hydras to smack me down b) lack of manual dexterity c) all round incompetence.........................
........or any combination of the above

Practice makes perfect. Perhaps taking on such a large number of enemies that can't turn you into falay of mesmer wasn't a good idea.

So, in theory, you could carry on by swapping out an item for one runed with major or superior vigor? Obviously there would be a penalty in terms of energy and a stat, but is it doable?

Avarre I can only say thanks for this build. It's given me an idea how to modify it to make farming ice imps easier. You know how to make a flexible build.

With 15% dp -> remove focus -> 33hp
With 30% dp -> remove focus and one super rune -> 36hp
With 45% dp -> remove focus and two super runes -> eh 39 hp I'd suppose.
And so on
